It’s in new environments where the early training It’s in new environments where the early training a pup receives really shines through. So many affirming moments - automatically sitting before we go through the door, a scary barking dog, excellent recovery, meeting new people and recalling off them when asked, a loud bang and he stops takes it in and continues walking. We all enjoyed the walk, he was calm, confident and optimistic with no obvious signs of stress such as lip licking, barking or whinging. So proud. Well done Toffee!
We do one on one training with our puppies to star We do one on one training with our puppies to start the foundations of training the important life skill that is independence. This builds on our strong foundation of crate training that our pups have mastered by the time they are 12 weeks. Puppies that constantly demand and get attention, struggle to learn the art of doing nothing. Similarly, dogs that are free to follow their owner everywhere when they are at home, can struggle when their owner then leaves the house. This simple exercise can be done while you watch television, clean the kitchen, work on your laptop etc. We do this for 30 minutes each day and it develops independence, calmness and tolerance to frustration. #puppytrainingclass #puppytraining101 #groodlepuppy #groodlepuppies #groodlelove #groodlelife #groodlelovers #groodlesofbrisbane #groodlesofsydney #groodlesofmelbourne #groodlesofperth #dogsofsydney #dogsofmelbourneaustralia #dogtrainersofinstagram #dogtrainers #dogtrainingisfun
Front door manners are important. No one wants the Front door manners are important. No one wants their Oodle to go charging out the front door unless they’re invited to. We teach our Groodle and Cavoodle puppies an automatic sit. It’s their default behaviour, it’s been rewarded lots of times and in lots of different environments so our pups now lean into this behaviour. They have clarity on what will get them the pats, treats and in this case - the reward that is walking through the doorway to go for a walk. #positivereinforcementtraining #puppytraining #groodlelove #groodlelife #minigroodle #groodlesofmelbourne #groodlesofsydney #groodlesofbrisbane #groodlesofadelaide #bernedoodlepuppies #poodlemixes #minigroodlepuppies #cavoodlepuppy #cavoodlepuppies #dogsofsydney #dogsofmelbourneaustralia
Our mini groodle puppies went to the park to have Our mini groodle puppies went to the park to have positive exposure to some new surfaces and experiences. They loved exploring a new environment and weren’t at all phased by the council workers doing whipper snipping and other people walking with dogs, prams etc. I was most impressed with their ability to chill and wait patiently while I pushed my daughter on the swing for 15 minutes or so 😅 #minigroodlepuppy #groodlepuppy #groodlepuppies #doggenetics #groodlesofmelbourne #groodlesofsydney #groodlesofbrisbane #groodlesofinstagram #ethicaldogbreeder #goldendoodle #minigroodle #puppytrainingtips

A snippet of our evening puppy training sessions w A snippet of our evening puppy training sessions with the fam! We all learn so much and everyone improves with each session. The kids are learning how to influence behaviour through play and how fun and effective it is in training the behaviours we want to see more of in our dogs. Featuring Toffee and Macchiato the F1b mini groodle puppies. Sorry for the loud sounds and messy filming. Our sessions are quite chaotic but overall so much learning and fun is had by all. Join us for a training session with our puppies. I Join us for a training session with our puppies. In these sessions we aim to grow our pups’ confidence and optimism in the face of unstable, elevated and wobbly surfaces. Initially the puppies startle when going over the seesaw, now they fly over it with confidence and seek out the wobble board. All of these obstacles once triggered their startle reflex but repeated positive exposures have resulted in desensitisation and habituation so much so that they now choose to incorporate the equipment in their play. The act of going on the equipment is now inherently reinforcing, hence why the puppies choose to repeat these learned behaviours. We’re also rewarding the puppies for calm behaviour when they offer four feet on the floor and we’re starting to see some lovely sits for attention and treats. #puppytraining #dogtrainingisfun #puppiesofaustralia

The first few weeks of our pups’ life in a few sec The first few weeks of our pups’ life in a few seconds ❤️ mostly cuddles but there’s a lot of cleaning, food prep, setting up and problem solving going on in the background. Even after being involved in dog breeding for 30 years, I’m still learning and each litter is different from the last and benefits from a customised approach to set them up for the best start in life. I was having difficulty at the 4 week mark with the puppies not toileting on the grass loo, instead they were using the puppy pads (which I put on the floor on top of their reusable puppy pads to enable a fast clean up of any accidents quickly). It was chaos! I was puzzled that they were confused! I went back over my process and realised that I’d made their pen too big too soon and this meant that they had too many choices for where to toilet. So I made the pen smaller and made sure I had a well defined area for sleeping, eating and another for toileting. And that was all they needed, this set them up for success and now at 6 weeks they’re reliably getting all their 💩 on the grass loo and most of their wees. I never blame the puppies for slow progress in training, I always take responsibility and change the environment and my approach, to give them the best chance of succeeding. #puppytraining #dogbreeding #raisingpuppies #puppylove #puppiesofinstagram #dogtraining #dogtrainingtips #doodlesofinstagram #cavoodlepuppy #groodlepuppy #bordoodlepuppy #minigroodle #dogsofsydney #puppiesofaustralia
