Our Story: Why We Care About Oodles
Raggy Dogs is a registered breeder that has bred 12 litters of Oodles since 2017.
We take the planning and commitment required to raise a happy, healthy litter of puppies very seriously. Our whole family is involved in the process. Our children play a very important role in socialising our puppies; they are our novelty machines, our giggling, wriggling and sometimes screaming little humans. Resultantly, our puppies are always very resilient, confident and optimistic when they leave our home.
Dog Breeding Experience – Conformation and Dog Sports
My name is ‘Tres’ and I am the founder of Raggy Dogs. I was born into the world of dogs, weekends were spent at dog shows and after school, I rushed home to play with, groom and train our dogs. My parents bred and showed purebred dogs. I got my first Toy Poodle when I was 5 years old and have never been without a Poodle by my side since.
I’ve been involved with dog sports such as ANKC competition level obedience and conformation showing. My experience with conformation show dogs has led me to be able to identify a dog that is well-built and fit for purpose.
Having handled, trained and lived with many individual dogs and breeds over the last 37 years, I understand most dogs and their needs. My passion has seen me devote 37 years to the training, genetics, nutrition, raising, grooming, care and connection of companion and competition sports dogs.

Family Life with Our Dogs
Becoming a mother has added a new and exciting dimension to my life with dogs. Witnessing the synergistic benefits that children, puppies and adult dogs bring to each other has been a great source of joy and enlightenment for me over the past 6 years.
I’m convinced that my children’s lives are better for sharing our home with our dogs. Our children’s faces light up when our dogs engage them in play and vice versa. In a world filled with screens and plastic, our dogs bring the spontaneity and invigorating influence of nature into our family home.
Raggy Dogs’ puppies understand the trials and tribulations of being a little human. They are not phased by tantrums and will often offer a calming cuddle or engage the child in play to distract them. The calming touch that our cuddly companions offer, can be very therapeutic to children living with anxiety, ADHD, autism and trauma.
I have witnessed firsthand the calming effect our oodles have on our children; supporting them while they develop their emotional regulation.
The low shedding coat of Oodles made them a perfect fit for our family
Our children have both suffered from allergies since they were born. As any parent who has cared for a child with asthma, hay fever or eczema knows, it is exhausting, relentless and heartbreaking. With dogs being such a significant part of my life, I needed to find a solution so that my extremely sensitive children could enjoy the unconditional love that dogs bring to the family home. After 2-3 generations of breeding poodle mix breeds including Cavoodles, Bordoodles and Groodles, we were producing soft shaggy fleece and wool coats that were completely non-shedding and thereby hypoallergenic (less likely to cause allergies).
We combined our experience in breeding with the latest DNA testing science which allowed us to examine the coat traits of our breeding girls and stud dogs. Armed with the genetic information that determines the texture, style and propensity toward shedding; we were set to further refine the coats in our Raggy Dogs line of hypoallergenic family dogs.

Ethical Dog Breeder Community
Raggy Dogs is part of an ethical dog breeder community that is passionate about poodle mixes (Oodles). Having been involved in the Oodle breeder community for the past 8 years, we have formed friendships with other reputable breeders.
We are part of a community of small in-house breeders working together to improve the quality of these beautiful family dogs in Australia.
We believe in promoting small, in-house family breeders. We breed sparingly and cannot meet the demand for ethically bred puppies. Hence, we’re happy to share the details of Oodle puppies for sale from other reputable breeders in our community, thereby promoting ethical dog breeding practices.

Mini Groodle Breeder
We have been a small-scale breeder of Mini Groodle puppies in Sydney, NSW. Raggy Dogs’ fleece-coated Mini Groodles, combine the calm, loving nature of the Golden Retriever with the intelligence and non-shedding coats of our Toy and Miniature Poodle stud dogs.
Features of our Mini Groodle Bloodline
- Health Testing – As ethical Groodle breeders, our breeding dogs are DNA-tested and studs hip-scored. We only utilise stud dogs who score better than the breed average to ensure we are improving the quality of our dogs’ hips with each generation.
- Size – Raggy Dogs’ Mini Groodles are a medium-sized dog, generally weighing between 9 and 15kg.
- Pedigree – We breed first-generation F1 Mini Groodle puppies (Golden retriever cross Toy/Mini Poodle) puppies. We also breed F1b Mini Groodle puppies (F1 Groodles x Toy/Mini Poodle).
- Coat types – We have Mini Groodle puppies in non-shedding fleece and non-shedding wool coats.
- Temperament – As an experienced dog breeder we understand the importance of breeding from mentally sound dogs. When you meet the parents of your Mini Groodle puppy, you will see firsthand the calm, confident and considerate temperament of our Mini Groodles. They have proven themselves to be devoted and gentle family and therapy dogs.
- Exercise requirements – Our Mini Groodles do not require extensive exercise. 30 minutes of walking with you or playing fetch are sufficient for our line of breeding. They are adaptable; happy chilling with you at home but always up for an adventure with the family to the beach, camping, cafe or bush.
- Expected life span – 12 to 16 years (if fed a mix of quality human-grade proteins, vegetables and quality freeze-dried food).
- Space requirements – Our Mini Groodles have found themselves in apartments, suburban backyards and rural properties. They blossom when they are played with for at least 30 minutes a day (fetch, tug, training games) and would also be grateful for a brisk 20-minute walk. We do temperament evaluations and allocate our puppies based on their personality and subsequent needs at 6-7 weeks of age.
- Groodle Grooming – As our puppies have non-shedding fleece and wool coats, expect to brush and comb your Mini Groodle at least once per week (30 minutes). The shorter the style of haircut that you choose, the easier maintenance brushing will be. Mini Groodles need to be groomed (wash, blow dry and clip) every 6 weeks or so.
We have raised puppies in our home as part of our family

We strive to support and promote the small in-house ethical oodle breeder who aims to raise mentally and physically sound family dogs.
Our Mission
To transform the way puppies are bred and trained by connecting puppy buyers, owners and breeders with information, products and reputable industry experts.
Puppies raised in puppy farms by unscrupulous dog breeders produce puppies with behaviour problems and shorter lifespans.
We encourage all oodle breeders to utilise the latest health testing, puppy-raising tools and techniques, dog behaviour and training research and veterinary science to better their practices.
Our Values
We strive to improve and promote ethical dog breeding and training practices and thereby the health and well-being of all dogs. We utilise the latest scientific evidence-based and peer-reviewed research to inform our decision-making.
We believe that the wellbeing and welfare of dogs can be improved through the collaboration of dog breeders, puppy buyers and owners with industry experts including veterinarians, dog trainers, world-class breeders, animal scientists, canine nutritionists, groomers, dog behaviourists and geneticists.
